Most of you have probably heard about Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), however, did you know that it has been used for many hundreds, if not thousands of years. In fact, Hippocrates (the father of medicine) used AVC back in around 400 B.C. for its health giving qualities.
How many of us can actually say that we take regular cold showers? If you're from a colder climate, the number is likely to be even less. However, cold showers and baths have a long history in many cultures, and for good reason. Vincenz Priessnitz, a farmer in the 1920s, developed and marketed a medical treatment he called hydrotherapy. He sold the concept of using cold water to cure a long list of aliments, and achieved almost instant success.
Many of us, at one point or another have seen or have experienced what is commonly known in the Western part of the world as pinkeye or more appropriately, conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva - the membrane that lines the eyelid and wraps around to cover most of the white of the eye. When someone has pinkeye, the eyes may appear swollen and bloodshot, and are often itchy and irritated.
Headaches are an extremely common complaint in our society, and are often treated with “quick fix” pain medication. In fact, over half a billion dollars is spent annually on this type of remedy. What is in these drugs and are they doing us more harm than good? Are there more effective and natural remedies we can use to alleviate headaches?
Plantain is one of the most common herbs found growing in North America. It can literally be seen growing out of the cracks of sidewalks and roads, found on the majority of homeowners lawns, cultivated or waste ground and even in places where there is little sun. In other words, the produce has been grown using chemical fertilizers as well as pesticides and herbicides. Many scientific studies suggest that the effects of synthetic pesticides can be detrimental to our health;one study suggests that the consumption of pesticides may lead to ADHD in children;in some other cases, exposure can lead to many forms of cancers.
