Epub 2015 May 14. PMID: 25975288 Abstract Title:  Future opportunities in preventing ototoxicity: Caffeic acid phenethyl ester may be a candidate (Review). Abstract:  Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) is an important active component of propolis, which is derived from honeybee hives. It has received increasing attention in a variety of medical and pharmaceutical research, due to its anti‑oxidant, antiproliferative, anti‑inflammatory, antiviral and antifungal activity, in addition to its antineoplastic properties. Besides the use of CAPE as an antioxidant and anti‑inflammatory agent in a number of in vivo studies of ear disease, its beneficial effects have been reported in the treatment of cancer, arthritis, allergies, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease and neurological disease. CAPE influences a number of biochemical pathways, as well as several targets involved in ear diseases, in particular, in ototoxicity. The protective effects of CAPE in ototoxicity, which may be induced by a number factors, including lipopolysaccharides, hydrogen peroxide and streptomycin, are evaluated and discussed in the present review. https://greenmedinfo.com/article/cape-influences-number-biochemical-pathways-well-several-targets-involved-ear-#comments Caffeic acid phenethyl ester Ear Diseases Anti-Inflammatory Agents Antioxidants Review Thu, 13 Aug 2015 01:24:52 +0000 greenmedinfo 119767 at https://greenmedinfo.com Otologic Diseases https://greenmedinfo.com/disease/otologic-diseases <div class="field field-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="450" height="336" alt="" src="//cdn.greenmedinfo.com/sites/default/files/Ear_23.jpg?1484001356" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-copyright"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Copyright: &lt;a href=&#039;http://www.123rf.com/profile_peterjunaidy&#039;&gt;peterjunaidy / 123RF Stock Photo&lt;/a&gt; </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="fieldgroup group-facebook-like-info"><legend>Facebook Like Info</legend><div class="field field-facebook-total-count"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> 0 </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> Ear Diseases Tue, 14 Apr 2009 07:23:42 +0000 greenmedinfo 21374 at https://greenmedinfo.com Ozone therapy may have therapeutic value in the treatment of patients with acute and chronic suppurative middle ear diseases. https://greenmedinfo.com/article/ozone-therapy-may-have-therapeutic-value-treatment-patients-acute-and-chronic- PMID:  Vestn Otorinolaringol. 2009(3):34-5. PMID: 19692964 Abstract Title:  [Treatment of patients with acute and chronic suppurative middle ear diseases using ozone preparations]. Abstract:  Methods of clinical application of gaseous ozone and ozonated solutions are described with special reference to the treatment of patients with acute and chronic suppurative middle ear diseases. Results of otoscopy, microbiological and cytological studies confirm therapeutic efficiency of the above techniques as accelerating recovery of patients with this pathology. It is recommended to include ozonotherapy as an additional method in the combined treatment of acute and chronic suppurative otitis media. https://greenmedinfo.com/article/ozone-therapy-may-have-therapeutic-value-treatment-patients-acute-and-chronic-#comments Ear Diseases Ear Infection Inner Ear Disease Ozone Therapy Commentary Sat, 29 Jan 2011 22:02:04 +0000 greenmedinfo 60607 at https://greenmedinfo.com
